So today I had lunch ...Another great blog post....

So today I had lunch with my attorney. Just a friendly, non- business lunch that unfortunately turned to politics. He is a 40 yr old IU Law school grad that I thought was more open minded than he has turned out to be. He made a comment about how as he has aged he has become more liberal. My little heart just sang!!! So I mention something about politics and off to the races we go. Well we touched on all sorts of topics and needless to say, he is as far removed from liberal as you can get. He even used the words " Kenyan, Marxist, Muslim Barry" to describe the Pres. We eventually landed on gay marriage. I don't care who wants to get married as long as any combination of partners has the right to. Heck, I'm not even married and not a big fan of it myself, but hey if that's what you want, go for it. Well this IU Law grad proceeded to said that if you make gay marriage legal, that would then lead to pedophiles wanting to marry young boys and people into bestiality marrying animals. I sat in stunned silence. I asked him if he was joking.....he wasn't. I of course pointed out the one word that would make this impossible....CONSENT.

This then led to what "marriage" really is....a legal contract (civil Union) A religious ceremony is not required to make a "marriage" legal. This wasn't good enough for him because he said you can't make gay marriage legal because churches would then be forced to perform gay marriage against their will. UGH!!!!! I said false.....churches already can deny anyone a service within their church for a variety of reasons....ie: divorce, same faith, hell 'just cause' in some cases.

Prior to my lunch, I really enjoyed working with my attorney and genuinely liked him, but after today I do believe I may need to seek new council. BTW....he sent me an email after lunch and said how he knew me to be an honorable person who loves this country so he is willing to overlook my politically naïve views. All this because I am a left leaning liberal that believes 2 people, regardless of gender, should have the right to get married.Karinnoreply@blogger.com
